Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. His grandfather began the family's long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; his father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen; he received the B. A.

The House We Live In and Arc of Justice. Two films that explore the family wealth gap between white and black Americans arising from deliberate and systemic government policies, and separate efforts to help secure economic independence for African American families.

Lunch & Learn with the League. "Fort Ord Update" Speaker: Alan Haffa. Monterey City Council Member and FORA Board Member

Dr. Alan Haffa is a professor of English at Monterey Peninsula College. He served three years on the MPUSD school board from 2004-2007.  He was elected to Monterey city council in 2012 and reelected in 2016.  In that capacity, he represents the city on the board of Community Human Services and the Fort Ord Reuse Authority.

Carrie Chapman Catt was an American women's suffrage leader who campaigned for the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave U.S. women the right to vote in 1920.

She was also the founder of the league of Women Voeters.

Now, Therefore, I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States of America, do hereby designate December 15, 1941, as Bill of Rights Day. And I call upon the officials of the Government, and upon the people of the United States, to observe the day by displaying the flag of the United States on public buildings and by meeting together for such prayers and such ceremonies as may seem to them appropriate.
