Helen Hutchison, President of the League of Women Voters of California, will be our featured speaker at a membership meeting on Thursday, November 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Helen will describe the roll out of what is being termed the League’s Transformation Journey.
LWV Ventura County is collaborating with CSUCI Communications students in the Team-Building class to present a Civil Discourse event on Nov. 8, 2018, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm in the Petit Salon on CSUCI campus, 1 University Drive, Camarillo, CA 93012. The topic of discussion will be "Privilege: Is it Earned or Given?" Join us for a lively discussion and practice your conversation skills. The students hope to "make the uncomfortable, comfortable."
Californians chose a Uhited State Senator, members of Congress, state officers, and voted on state measures. There were also local candidates and ballot measures. If you are interested in learning more about helping serve as the eyes and ears of the League, please join us for our LWVBC Observer Training this Sunday, October 28 starting at 3pm in the League Office, 635 Flume Street in Chico.
The LWVO Education Committee is hosting a panel with Alameda County Superintendent, Karen Monroe; Oakland Unified School District- OUSD HS Principal, Carmelita Reyes; Shanthi Gonzales, OUSD School Board Member, Nima Tahai, Director of Educator Leadership, GO Public Schools Advocates Oakland, and other district budget/community experts and board members.
