Women's March
On Saturday January 20th, the Women's March is putting on their second annual march. This year - Hear our Vote is the theme.
We received this info regarding the Women’s March on January 20 and forwarding it to you. Please take a look and decide what you like to do.
Some of our members are planning to participate in the march and are going to meet at the Castro Valley Bart station at 8:30 am. If you like to go and like to join in the group, please meet at the CV Bart station. Otherwise see you at the March.

California has just passed 15 new laws designed to streamline and increase the affordable housing. Since that has long been the goal of our local governments, the League is eager to learn what these new laws will mean for rental housing on the South Coast area. For the first time these anti-NIMBY laws allow no reduction in housing units without serious penalties. They also provide funding mechanisms to build more affordable rental units. They may change how housing projects are approved in the future.

Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) was born Michael Luther King, Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. Lunch & Learn with the League. "Fort Ord Update" Speaker: Alan Haffa. Monterey City Council Member and FORA Board Member

Dr. Alan Haffa is a professor of English at Monterey Peninsula College. He served three years on the MPUSD school board from 2004-2007.  He was elected to Monterey city council in 2012 and reelected in 2016.  In that capacity, he represents the city on the board of Community Human Services and the Fort Ord Reuse Authority.

Carrie Chapman Catt was an American women's suffrage leader who campaigned for the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave U.S. women the right to vote in 1920.

She was also the founder of the league of Women Voeters.
