On August 25th and August 27th, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 8 pm, experienced trainers will prepare viewers for civil engagement during election season in this free event. This is a collaboration and partnership of the Braver Angels, NICD, and LWV of Snohomish County (Washington). Together we can make a difference, but we make the best difference when we are respectful, inclusive, and open to really listen and understand all perspectives.
There's a lot of stress these days among family members and friends who are divided politically, and the current polarized public conversation doesn't help. Conversations about our beliefs can be difficult, especially when our relationships are at stake.
You are invited to join us for a free Braver Angels "Skills for Bridging the Political Divide" workshop to learn communication skills for having respectful conversations that clarify differences, search for common ground, and affirm the importance of relationships.
This workshop will help you become better equipped to navigate difficult discussions with empathy and openness and avoid condemnation and contempt. You will learn tools and tips for listening, speaking and handling difficult moments, and then practice putting these skills to use in real time.
